What We Do

Totally Flocked Avian Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 parrot rescue and sanctuary based in the Pensacola, Florida area. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and enhance the lives of parrots, with a strong focus on preventing animal cruelty and neglect. I believe in the power of education and proactive solutions, promoting compassion and understanding without judgment. Our motto, “NO BIRD LEFT BEHIND,” drives every effort we make. But I can’t do it alone—we rely on the support of our community to make a real difference. Discover how you can join us in our mission and help change the lives of parrots in need.

Growing up surrounded by small birds and fueled by a passion for animal advocacy, my path naturally led me to fight for animals in need, especially birds. While I always wanted to help, I wasn’t fully aware of the challenging conditions many birds endure or the overwhelming demand for safe havens—that is, until I encountered my first bird case as an Animal Cruelty Investigator, which is how Hootie, Belle, and I crossed paths. Twelve years later, we’ve privately rescued and cared for and placed over 100 birds, and our journey is far from over.

A Few of Our Permanent Residents

Our residents remain in the sanctuary and are not available for adoption, for various reasons. Some are due to behavioral or health issues, while others have been specifically requested by their owners to remain in the sanctuary and in our care.

Regardless if they're here for a week, a month or the rest of their lives, they are shown love, trust and companionship. As it should be!

Hootie - AKA the OG, AKA the Velociraptor

The one to start it all

Hootie has a story, a long one. While we're not sure of the first 15 years of her life, we know the last few years before coming into our hands were almost deadly. Hootie, and multiple others, were removed from a cruelty case and subsequently custody was won. Hootie instantly trusted me as her on-scene rescuer, yet others were the victim of her vicious bites. She loves me fiercely and has grown to trust again. She may be small but she is might, in bite and vocals, rivaling the loudest macaw or Moluccan Cockatoo. Hootie is a permanent resident and will live out her life here.

Lil Bit - No bird left behind!

Renewed Love

Rito is a 30 yr old Scarlett Macaw that was well loved his entire life. He lost his first human at an early age and spent the next 24 years with family. He started plucking a few years ago, much to their dismay. No medical reasons could be found. Rito was well cared for, but could be unpredictable. Two weeks after arrival, he and I became best buddies. He's very opinionated on who he likes and doesn't like and will DEFINITELY let you know his intentions. Rito is also a permanent resident here, along with his family friend, the Military Macaw Fernando.

Overlooked & forgotten

Lil Bit's story is a sad one. While removing 3 other birds from a horrendous hoarding situation, Lil Bit was "discovered" in a cob web covered cage, and had been reported to family to have passed away two weeks prior. Zero food and water and a plucked and scared little grey hiding behind the cobwebs silently. Oh the thought of NOT finding her. Lil Bit unbelievably wants to interact and trust humans, although is a bit nervous stepping up, but loves to be pet, gives beak kisses and is quite the noise maker.

Here at Totally Flocked, we don't shy away from the hard situations. These birds need us and we are always going to be here to get them to safety.

We never charge a fee to surrender a bird because our priority is always their safety and well-being; however, donations are greatly appreciated to help us provide the care and resources needed to set each bird up for success in their new life.
